THE STORY
"A Quiet Place" - hand cut paper collage, the artwork is inspired by and reflects our surroundings. The story behind it is how we felt during the home isolation in those uncertain times. I just realised how we are non-stop rushing for something, no time and constant pressure. Also, the city noise, which is almost non-existent anymore, is so strange. Finally, we can experience the megalopolis in complete silence which can be very weird or very nice, depending on our state of mind in the moment. I try to work on my well-being to make art which is my meditation. ”My collage was inspired, and was created, during the lockdown in London. This is me. My kid made a photo of me in the window when it was not possible to go out, and basically this was our hope and connection with the world, nature and surroundings. After that, I was inspired to make my vision of this lovely photo. I’m a visual artist and a mum, and it is really important to express my feelings.”

Bulgarian artist Silviya Georgieva - Sellvida, who lives and works in London, was selected and included in The Washington Post story - 6th July 2020, which shows the 20 best artworks created during the pandemic. More than 650 works took part in the selection. Sellvida's painting, published in the American edition, is entitled "A Quiet Place".
