THE STORY
"Study of a Boy" is an acrylic painting inspired by a moment with my son, captured in the intriguing interior of a friend’s home. Surrounded by distinctive objects, including the iconic vintage Ligne Roset Togo sofa and a vibrant collection of folk textiles, such as a striking Bulgarian carpet and cushions, I focused on the playful energy of my son as he attempted to sneak his father’s phone. The colour palette, dominated by vivid reds and a range of warm oranges, evokes a sense of brightness and vitality, reflecting the lively mood of the scene. Floral motifs and patterns reminiscent of Persian textiles and traditional Bulgarian carpet techniques are woven throughout the composition, adding depth and cultural richness. This piece not only highlights a personal moment of childhood curiosity but also celebrates the beauty of art, heritage, and the objects that shape our surroundings.
